The Land We Are On
For thousands of years, as well as to this day, Indigenous Nations called this land home before the arrival of settlers. Today, we are all living together on these lands and we must acknowledge and respect these past and present relationships.
Copernicus Educational Products’ facility resides on the traditional territory of Petun Nation, Anishinabek Nation, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Odawa Nation, and Mississaugas Nation. We wish to acknowledge these Nations as our community partners and the traditional inhabitants of this land we work on.
Land acknowledgement is just the beginning of supporting Indigenous communities. As a company, we support Indspire and are continuing to increase our knowledge about traditional territories, and what changes we can make as a company in order to support the reconciliation process.
If you wish to discuss these important topics in your classroom, please check out the Native Land’s Teacher’s Guide.
