I’m a kindergarten teacher and I can’t think of a better piece of furniture for the classroom than the Copernicus Make-Believe Stand. It is beautifully made with sustainable bamboo and designed with functionality in mind. I’m guessing they had an educator help design it, as it’s brilliant and exactly what I hoped for! I appreciate that the top shelf is wider than other dramatic play stand-type units I’ve had in the past. This means that a lot more play can happen using the top shelf due to its width, as it holds a cash register and a lot of other materials easily, and there is a lip on one side. I love that the removable hide-away panel whiteboard can close the shelves when you don’t need them or simply want to hide some toys or materials. While the hide-away panel is stored on the back of the shelf, you can still use the magnetic whiteboard. The storage tubs are very sturdy and well-made to hold up to classroom and student use, and I was delighted to see the tubs were made in Canada. So far, we've turned the stand into different engaging, dramatic play and science exploration areas for our students. I’ve also collected a dowel and curtain to add to the holes at the top of the stand to turn it into a puppet theatre. If you choose not to use the stand as a dramatic play area, it is also well suited to a math or literacy station due to the whiteboard/magnet board and the storage for various materials. This is my favourite versatile piece of classroom furniture so far.
